Overview

Mamba Growth is a new growth equity firm launched by seasoned investor Jake Colognesi, formerly of Sageview Capital. Headquartered in New York with a secondary office in Stamford, Connecticut, Mamba Growth focuses exclusively on investing in product-obsessed, profitable, bootstrapped or lightly capitalized software companies with $2M–$12M in revenue.

With a mission to help high-potential founders accelerate their journey without taking control positions, Mamba Growth offers more than just capital – they act as a force multiplier for management teams ready to scale.

The Challenge

As a brand-new investment firm, Mamba Growth needed a CRM that could scale with them and support their philosophy of “doing more with less.” But after evaluating multiple options, they found that most platforms were built for traditional sales teams.

They ultimately selected DealCloud, which is a CRM tailored to the investment ecosystem. But they quickly realized that to make it truly effective, they needed to build custom workflows that mirrored their vision and internal processes. Before even onboarding, Mamba had whiteboarded and PowerPointed exactly how their CRM should function. Now they needed a partner who could make that vision a reality.

The Solution

York IE was brought in to help Mamba Growth implement and fully customize DealCloud. The decision to work with York IE stemmed from an existing relationship with founder Jake Colognesi and York’s dual DNA as both builders and investors.

Harshad Patel, the lead engineer on the project, worked alongside Tyler and his team to:

  • Translate Mamba’s vision into a staged implementation plan
  • Build a strong data foundation, enabling backend activity tracking and analytics
  • Design custom front-end workflows for sourcing, outreach, and deal tracking
  • Layer in automation, improving efficiency without sacrificing intentionality

Harshad also created a real-time project tracker in Notion to manage progress, identify blockers, and align on deliverables during weekly check-ins.

Over the course of six weeks, York IE helped Mamba Growth bring their CRM vision to life. The customized DealCloud setup now acts as the central nervous system for the firm and is used by every team member from the moment they start their day.
